These agreements regulates a situation where for example, owner of a website offers it for an annual fee to someone else, for that third party to operate as if it was his own.
The website continues to be hosted through the licensor, who receives a fee for this service, ongoing. Note that hosting terms are not included as they may be extensive. A flexible and comprehensive website hosting agreement is Net Lawman ECM061 which is introduced here.(please link to AU – ECM061)
The licensor may have just one site which he is reluctant to sell or he may make a business out of writing and licensing sites to others.
The advantage of a license to the licensor is that he retain possession and control of the website. The advantage to the licensee is that he has a site immediately and pays an annual fee rather than a capital sum.
